No more waiting for Waitrose

No more waiting for Waitrose: "Supermarket chain Waitrose plans to continue its expansion into the Middle East, despite the economic downturn.
The UK firm yesterday opened its second store in Dubai, at the Marina Mall.
“The plan was always to expand further into the region,” David Morton, director of business development at Waitrose, told 7DAYS.
He said the firm was actively looking for further stores in the UAE, but also in Qatar, Bahrain and Oman.
He added that even though the economic situation was difficult, Waitrose’s unusual structure was helping it to ride the storm.
The firm is owned by the John Lewis Partnership, and as a result has no shareholders. Instead, each member of its 68,000 staff is a ‘partner’ and shares in the success or failure of the firm."
