EU Streamlines Pesticide Approvals With Zonal System

EU Streamlines Pesticide Approvals With Zonal System: "The European Union agreed to cut red tape in the 6 billion-euro ( billion) pesticides market by streamlining product approvals, clearing the way for legislation that also tightens safety standards.

The European Parliament endorsed an overhaul of the current system under which an EU country can refuse to recognize other national licenses in the bloc. The Parliament voted to reduce the maximum number of approvals to three by dividing EU member states into northern, central and southern groups where a single authorization for pesticides will be valid."
