UnitedHealth, New York in $50 Million Payment Accord
UnitedHealth, New York in $50 Million Payment Accord: "UnitedHealth Group Inc., the largest U.S. health insurer, resolved a conflict-of-interest investigation by New York, agreeing to pay million to fund an independent database on out-of-network reimbursement rates.
UnitedHealth will shut down the database operated by its Ingenix subsidiary, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said today in a statement on the settlement. A nonprofit entity will provide data on “reasonable and customary” costs that insurers use to set reimbursement rates to patients."
