Shilpa Shetty join the Indian Premier League (IPL)
Cricket News : The latest Bollywood name to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) bandwagon was the sassy lass Shilpa Shetty. The actress bought an 11% stake in the Rajasthan Royals franchise.
She has become the third Bollywood name after Shah Rukh Khan and Priety Zinta to be a part in the stakeholders of the cash rich league. The Rajasthan Royals team is co-owned by her long term ‘friend’ Raj Kundra who addressed a press conference with the actress today.
Her 11% stake in the team is estimated to be USD 15.4 million.
Elated on her alliance with the franchise that won the inaugural IPL 20-20 tournament last year, she hoped that she would get an encore result from them this time around too.
She said, “It is an honour to be associated with Rajasthan Royals, I hope for a re-run from them this time too”, and added “I relate with them (Rajasthan Royals team), they were the underdogs and they scored.”
Wrapping up a brief but lively press conference, Shilpa Shetty waved goodbye saying “Hallabol, way to go Rajasthan Royals.”
