Malayalam actor Mohanlal in a new avatar | PakMahfil.com - Woman Magazine - Pakistani woman site: "Donning a new role, versatile Malayalam actor Mohanlal has teamed up with an entrepreneur friend to set up a Rs four-crore performing arts centre in Kochi to showcase and preserve varied and unique art forms of Kerala.
The actor has joined hands with businessman Jose Thomas to give shape to a Performing Arts Centre here which would preserve, nurture, propagate, celebrate and showcase the countless treasures of performing arts with a focus on music, dance, theatre and folk art.
Christened JT Pac (Jose Thomas Performing Arts Centre), the state-of-the art centre is designed to be an ‘intellectual crucible’ that can shape the sensibilities of the public, set benchmarks in artistic standards and influence the very culture of art appreciation, Mohanlal told reporters here.
The centre is coming up at nearby Tripunithura at the ‘Choice school campus.’ About 75 per cent of the work has been completed and it is expected to be ready by February-end or early March, Jose Thomas, Chairman of the Kerala-based Choice group of companies and the centre’s president, said. A three-month calendar of performances is getting ready, he said.
The centre will play a lead role in making Kerala the centre stage of world class theatre, dance and folk art performances, Mohanlal said."
